Hybrid Intelligence to monitor, promote and analyse transformations in good democracy practices (HYBRIDS)

Hybrid ApproachesHuman-in-the-loopNLP

The HYBRIDS project, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network funded by the European Union and UK Research and Innovation, aims to combat the pervasive issues of fake news, disinformation, and online hate speech that threaten democratic societies. By integrating insights from social and human sciences into natural language processing tools and deep learning algorithms, HYBRIDS seeks to develop hybrid intelligence systems that combine human and machine intelligence. This approach addresses the limitations of existing artificial intelligence methods, providing researchers with the necessary knowledge and tools to analyze public discourse and design strategies to counteract disinformation.

The project is led by the Research Centre on Intelligent Technologies (CiTIUS) in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and brings together an international consortium of 14 members from seven European countries, including universities, research centers, non-profit organizations, and private companies. Through this collaborative effort, HYBRIDS aims to strengthen democratic practices by ensuring citizens have access to verifiable information, thereby empowering them to form well-informed opinions on political matters.
